(b) The last timepoints in the two simulations for part (a) are separately fed as initial conditions to the RRE in order to generate the two separate traces shown in this subfigure. The RRE solution that was already on the periodic orbit continues tracing it, and the off-orbit solution in turn approaches the limit cycle. (c) The off-orbit solution finally becomes periodic and the phase shift between the two RRE solutions can be found, switching to the plots in the time domain and applying appropriate algorithms to compute the phase shift.
